IS4S Wins Air Force Satellite Navigation Contract

The Aberdeen MD office of Integrated Solutions for Systems (IS4S) won a contract to continue supporting the development of the Lightweight Satellite Navigation (LWS) project for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). The LWS project seeks to provide a secure Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) signal to users that face Size, Weight, Power and/or Cost (SWAP-C) constraints. LWS leverages commercial cryptography and the Department of War (DoW) network to provide military encryption without the logistics and risks associated with legacy cryptography, such as that employed by GPS. The LWS waveforms are flexible and can be used from a variety of satellite constellations at a variety of frequencies, providing robustness through diversity. IS4S has supported the project since its inception three years ago as a subcontractor to Canyon Consulting, Inc. IS4S has developed both a transmitter and a Software Defined Radio (SDR) receiver and has demonstrated them both in the laboratory and the field. Under this new contract, IS4S will lead the effort to mature the Command and Control (C2) system for LWS while continuing to support system engineering efforts.
