Convoy Cruise Control 

IS4S is developing a Cruise Control Enhancement (CCE) for vehicles in traveling in a convoy to maximize fuel economy. The CCE builds on traditional and adaptive cruise control, which monitors the distance to a leading vehicle and adjusts speed accordingly. The CCE will leverage vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication to share environment and vehicle state information among all vehicles in the convoy. The controller at each vehicle optimizes speed based on upcoming road grade and vehicle spacing for aerodynamic drag reduction for safe and efficient convoying.
